         Lindsey!

     By L. Don Oliver

She's the beautiful ballerina

 Pirouetting around the floor

    A crowd of one stands

         and cheers

  Then he screams for more

   Dancing the Swan Lake

    Like no other could

     Performing all the

         movements

A beautiful ballerina should

 Her arms fluttering gently

As she glides upon her toes

  marveling at the magic

   As around and around

         she goes

Her tiny little skirt swaying

Like a gentle morning breeze

   The glory of the moment

Is all she wants to seize

         Of course

   Theres pride within me

   Pride always to be told

  This beautiful ballerina

    Is my granddaughter

 Lindsey is seven years old

     Spreading Branches!

      By L. Don Oliver

Sitting near me while my dreams drift to tomorrow.

      She speaks to me.

      Of a far away place,

where she spent her happiest moments as a child.

      Of the hill,

where there stood a mansion surrounded by

forest trees with their wide spreading

branches. The mansion that she never visited.

      Of the cool spring,

at the foot of a well manicured hill

and of a small drinking gourd upon

a nail driven into a nearby tree.

      Of the times,

throwing off her shoes and wading in

the cool spring water on a hot summer's day.

      Of the watermelons,

placed into the cool spring water for the

        laborers after their daily chores.

      Of the wandering path,

where the silent flowers shouted to be picked.

      Of her first doll,

sewn by hand from cloth remnants and stuffed

        with rags.

      Of the whippoorwill,

that kept her from dreaming each night.

      Of their,

small sharecropper home that was always

        filled with love.

      Of her father,

behind a plow pulled by a mule, pausing to

        wipe his sweating brow.

      Of her mother,

and the fresh aroma of a baked pie

        whispering through the air.

      Of that,

first tender kiss that made her entire being

        tremble.

      Of the locket,

that the special one in her life gave to

her. Then marched off to war to never return.

      She,

gazes through the window into the far distance

and is like a child again. Her beautiful hazel

eyes sparkle. Then they are clouded by her tears

as scenes of yesterday cross the landscape of

        her memories.

Such waste of time on foolish things!

Ask the Political Correctness (PC) Person
by

Question: While thumbing throught

the New Age Dictionary of Political

Correctness, I came across some

terminology that confused me. It had

a definition of a female storm

as a herricane and a male storm as

a himmicane. isn't that politically

incorrect. What sould I Do?

Intellectual Resolution: Use the

definition of both. It's called a

"Themicane"; which is gender neutural!

IT IS BETTER TO BOARD THE LEFT SIDE

OF A SHIP AND LIVE, THAN IT IS TO FALL

OFF THE RIGHT SIDE AND DROWN!

Actually, since storms have neither female or male gender specifics they should be called 'itacanes'!

Question? I've lost faith in the media and in the last

election I didn't vote for either the Democrats or the

Republicans (I've also lost faith in both of them).

What does that make me?

Intellectual Resolution: You are cognitive challenged

(ignorant) in need of a cognitive accommodation (brain

washing) re-education program.

Previous Poem.

By L. Don Oliver

Where oh! where, is the mind

Life oh! life, can be unkind

Down, down, into the dark

Whispers of, a Meadowlark

Hearing, the Banshee's cry

Is it the wind, rushing by

Into an abyss, where I fall

Hoping God, will hear my call

Flowering wings, about to sail

Praying that, I will prevail

New life, opening aloud

Meandering along, like a cloud

Clear eyes, deep blue skies

Up where, the eagle flies

Assurance life, is at an ease

Floating softly, with the breeze

All fear gone, God by my side

Upon Earth's Greened, I will abide

In that I'm satisfactorily deprived (pissed off) and

Color it Goodbye?

By L. Don Oliver

Where are you Christmas,

oh where did you go?

Where is the joy,

we once used to know?

Where is all the happiness,

that togetherness would bring?

Where are all the carols,

that families would sing?

Where is the little Christ child,

with his manger all aglow?

Where are you Christmas,

Oh where did you go?

Where is the love of giving,

that the "Magi" gave reason?

It's been replaced by secularism,

and renaming it the "holiday season";
